Complete solution for elevator shaft cabling
SmartLift, supplier of switching cabinets and electronic components for displays or control panels, had the innovative idea to transform the shaft cabling into an industrially manufactured standard component. For practical implementation of the concept, SmartLift looked for a partner that would ideally complement their core competence in elevator electronics.
With the need for a custom, innovative connection technology, SmartLift turned to Weidmüller's specialists who are extremely knowledgeable in this area, and with whom they had an excellent business relationship for many years. Together, the two companies were then able to develop the exact end-to-end solution for elevator cabling SmartLift had in mind.
Retro-fitting robots with wireless technology

IRMATO often takes advantage of used robots for their automation solutions. These second-hand robots must be retro-fitted to prepare them for their new assignment. A big challenge is to quickly convert the robots for their new tasks – including routing the new cabling.
Using SAI Active wireless modules to reliably transmit the signals without cables is very profitable for IRMATO as high material costs and considerable time delays for the cabling are being avoided. The Weidmüller modules feature IP 67 protection which makes them a perfect fit to IRMATO’s requirement for a water-resistant and dust-resistant solution.

Different protocols and numerous participants made networking the potato washing machine a challenge for Schulz Systemtechnik. To avoid network failures, the use of active devices with efficient filter mechanisms was called for in order to reduce the broadcast traffic.
Managed switches from Weidmüller met these requirements with their individual setting options, as they were designed with the special PROFINET requirements in mind. In addition, they are easily adapted to suit office networks, like VLAN for example.

In 6-mm series terminal format, the TERMOPTO solid-state relay supports the precise adjustment of technological controls in the foil rolling process of world market leader, Achenbach Buschhütten.
The aluminium and copper foils used, for example, in composite packaging or battery production are wafer thin. During production they are processed by rollers, which squeeze them down to micrometre range. And in order to achieve a consistently precise result, especially in relation to foil planarity and foil thickness, high roller precision is the overriding priority. At Achenbach Buschhütten GmbH – the world leader in foil rolling mills – the heavyweight rollers with a width of up to 2.20 m are therefore precisely aligned by adjusted cylinders.
"Our Magnescale position measuring system operates with a resolution up to 0.5 µm and uses a voltage level of 5 V for the digital control signals. We needed a reliable product for reprocessing this signal, which converts it to the 24V level of our OPTIROLL® automation system," explains Tim Schuhmacher, electrical engineer at Achenbach on the requirements of his application. "Weidmüller's TERMOPTO solid state relay has proven to be the optimum link."
